The Learning Community Trust is undertaking a major programme of IT systems upgrades and improvements between 30 July and 7 August. These essential works will help improve the security, reliability and resilience of Trust systems and communications services.

Level Up Literacy provides targeted, age-appropriate support for students whose reading and writing skills are limiting access to the wider curriculum. Intervention is matched to assessed need rather than delivered as a single programme for every student.

Progress is evaluated through assessment, work, classroom application and student voice
Activities may include reading for interest, paired reading, functional texts, news and current affairs, library access and communication tasks linked to real-life situations.
Careers learning in this subject contributes to Kickstart’s wider careers programme and the Gatsby Benchmarks. Through our work with Future Focus, students receive individual support to explore suitable pathways, make applications and prepare for a positive post-16 transition. Strong literacy supports every post-16 pathway by improving students’ ability to understand instructions, complete applications, communicate with employers and participate confidently in training.
