Committed to creating an environment
Kickstart Academy is committed to creating an environment where exemplary attitudes, behaviour and pastoral care are at the heart of productive learning. Our partnership approach aims to build community cohesion and positive relationships within the academy, the local area and alternative provisions.
Our vision is built around three core values: Ready, Respectful, Safe. We expect all members of the Kickstart community to always exhibit these values:

Committed to creating an environment
- To create a culture of exceptionally good behaviour: READY for learning, READY for community, READY for life
- To ensure that all are treated fairly, are shown RESPECT and promote good relationships to build a community which values kindness, care, good humour, good temper, and empathy for others
- To help learners behave in a SAFE way, taking control over their behaviour and to be responsible for the consequences of it
- To help reduce the likelihood of behavioural issues related to social, emotional or mental health (SEMH), we will create a safe and calm environment in which positive mental health and wellbeing are promoted and students are taught to be resilient. We will promote resilience as part of a whole academy approach through culture, ethos and environment, curriculum and community engagement

INSPIRE The core principle of our pastoral system is to support our children and their families in removing the perceived/presenting barriers to access learning and effective functioning to maximise outcomes.
SUCCEED We combine outstanding teaching and learning with the highest quality structured support, mentoring programmes and personalised learning opportunities to ensure our young people develop self-regulation, a sense of responsibility, accountability and the ability to function effectively both in education and in wider society.
ENJOY We ensure the safety and wellbeing of our young people, helping them to enjoy their school experience whilst having excellent attendance and engagement.
Our Values
Education is important in the modern world. Our students need to learn about culture, history and other important aspects so that they are able to contribute as a global citizen. Education also helps eradicate poverty and hunger, giving people better prospects for their future. The impact of the educational offer at Kickstart is seen in the well-rounded young people who leave us in Year 11 and in those students who are reintegrated into mainstream settings. The areas of impact are outlined below
- Pastoral care. Every member of our academy community knows that we are committed to supporting their physical health, safety and emotional wellbeing
- Relationships between staff and students are based on our core values: Ready, Respectful and Safe. Clearly stated standards of behaviour are upheld by all
- We celebrate our differences and show respect for our community. Students understand and develop their role as active and responsible citizens
- Kickstart Academy is an outward facing and globally conscious academy. We promote compassion, and advocacy for all members of our academy community. We are unwaveringly inclusive and determined to eradicate all barriers to educational success
- Curriculum. We are passionate about delivering our ambitious curriculum which is broad, balanced and knowledge rich, enabling all students to achieve their very best and be well equipped for the future
- Co-Curriculum. Our curriculum is enhanced by a wide range of sustained enrichment opportunities enabling students to discover and nurture their individual talents and interests
- Celebrating success. We celebrate success at all levels. Students are encouraged to apply a growth mindset to both their academic and personal progress
- We have well established links with our local community and view partnerships with our wider community partners and our families as central to our success
