Headteacher’s welcome
Welcome to Kickstart Academy
On behalf of the students, staff, and our community, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Kickstart Academy.
As Headteacher, it has been my privilege to work closely with the dedicated team and wider community to move Kickstart forward in its next chapter of development.
As an academy and staff team, we are committed to ensuring that all students get the very best possible education and are provided with the opportunities that allow them to flourish and achieve their full potential. I am proud to say that we have a very talented team who support this aim; a staff team who have the highest expectations for all our students, not only in terms of their academic outcomes and behaviour, but also for their personal, social and emotional development.
By working in close partnership with our families, we are here to ensure that every student achieves the best possible outcomes during their time at our academy; eventually leaving us as the best version of themselves. We want our students to enjoy their education so that they learn to ‘value learning’, both in and out of the classroom, and can look back fondly on their time and experiences at Kickstart.
Our academy mission statement is:
- To deliver an inclusive, forward-thinking education which ensures young people are as well prepared as possible for their next steps beyond school and into adulthood.
Our main academy aims are:
- To create a safe and nurturing environment where young people can rebuild trust and feel secure.
- To empower all young people to develop the skills, confidence and behaviours to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
- To work collaboratively with families and stakeholders in the community to improve outcomes for young people.
We work hard to ensure our young people are empowered to make a positive contribution to the diverse communities they are part of and do this through the promotion of our whole academy expectations, which guide all our work within our academy:
- Be ready to learn
- Be respectful
- Be safe
Underpinning our relational and inclusive practice are Kickstart Academy’s operationalised values:
- Honesty – telling the truth, even if it’s difficult.
- Doing the right thing – consistently choosing to act in line with school policies and ethical or moral expectations, even if it goes unnoticed.
- Growth mindset- adopting behaviours, such as self-reflection or avoiding blame, that demonstrate our belief in our ability to improve through sustained effort, openness to feedback, and a willingness to learn from challenges and mistakes.
- Respect – ensuring our thoughts, actions and behaviours make everyone in our community feel valued.
- Compassion – approaching others as human first, professional second.
- Inclusion – taking consistent and intentional steps to build strong connections to ensure everyone feels they belong
We look forward to working with you and your child.
